San Diego, CA | Posted on October 20th, 2009

The California NanoSystems Institute is a research center that encourages multidisciplinary collaborations for discoveries in nanoscience (the study of phenomena at the nanoscale) and nanotechnology (for the practical applications of nanoscale research). CNSI houses eight shared resource facilities which provide a wide array of advanced instrumentation to enable research conducted by faculty across UCLA. Photron, as an industry partner, has donated several high speed imaging systems for use in the Advanced Light Microscopy/Spectroscopy (ALMS) core lab at CNSI. The slow motion cameras and proprietary image analysis software will aid the research on optical imaging, single-cell study, and single-cell detection.

"High speed imaging and motion analysis play a critical role in our research as we strive to develop new methods of molecular imaging," notes Professor Shimon Weiss, faculty director of the ALMS core lab at CNSI. "We are very grateful to Photron and Mr. Tak Takimizu, president, Photron, USA, Inc. (San Diego, CA) for their generous donation of high speed cameras and slow motion camera systems."
