Abstract:
Japan, Korea and Germany organized a conference in Seoul
This year's NANO KOREA/Microtech World from August 26 to 28, 2009 focused on the topics micro- and nanotechnology, printed electronics and consumer electronics. The unanimous intention of the exhibitors was to make the world a bit "greener": subjects such as reduced energy consumption, sensor networks for the "zero energy house" and energy harvesting were omnipresent. The NANO KOREA was well received in the North of Seoul with 195 exhibitors from ten countries.
The exhibitors mainly came from Japan and Korea. Europeans and US Americans were represented noticeably less compared to the last years. The Korean-Japanese-German consortium, consisting of the Nano Technology Research Association, the Micromachine Center and IVAM, organized a one-day symposium on microsystems technology. Dr. Frank Melzer, director of Bosch Sensortec, presented the enormous growth of Bosch in the area of consumer electronics. Furthermore, standardization possibilities in the production of micro components were discussed intensively at the seminar. Cost reduction in microsystems technology was an important topic of nearly all speakers.
