Abstract:
Applied Nanoscience Inc. (ANI) (PINKSHEETS: APNN), a nanotechnology-based filtration development company, today announced it has received formal notification for the issuance of four patents in Mexico for its broad IP platform encompassing "Filtering Devices Incorporating Nanoparticles." The patent coverage will include three main methods of associating nanoparticles with filter media: (1) having pellets of nanoparticles located adjacent to the filter media, (2) coating the filter media with a powder of nanoparticles, and (3) impregnating the nanoparticles into the filter media.
The Company already holds this broad patented protection in Australia, India, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore and Taiwan and has active applications encompassing 40+ countries around the world including the United States. "This expansion of protected intellectual property continues to increase the value of our overall portfolio and should build shareholder value. The strategic advantage of this specific coverage as it relates to potential licensee partnerships and nanotechnology enhanced filtration product manufacturing is quite promising," said Thomas K. Allen, President and CEO, ANI.
This release may contain statements that are forward-looking. Such statements are made based upon current expectations that are subject to risk and uncertainty. ANI does not undertake to update forward-looking statements in this news release to reflect actual results of and changes in assumptions or changes in other factors affecting such forward-looking information. The actual future plans and results of the company could differ significantly from such forward-looking statements.
In addition, ANI continues to focus on U.S. patent efforts tied to its NanoFense™ formulation, a proprietary antimicrobial nanoparticle filter "coating." This technology development effort complements and bolsters all of the issued patent coverage for many air filtration applications in some of the most heavily populated regions of the world. "Our focused two-prong approach to building a valuable and synergistic IP portfolio will directly benefit potential licensees in all air filtration applications," stated Mr. Allen.
