RUSNANO Supervisory Council has approved the Prize Committee of Nanotechnology International Prize

Nanotechnology International Prize is a unique international award. For the first time the prize will be awarded not only for nanotechnology scientific discoveries and innovations but for their application to mass production.

The Prize will be awarded on a yearly basis in one of the following fields:


  • NanoElectronics;
  • NanoBiotechnology;
  • NanoMaterials;
  • NanoDiagnostics.

In 2009 the Prize will be awarded for developments and their practical implementing in the field of NanoElectronics.

In 2009 the monetary fund of the Prize will be exceed 80 000USD and in future it will make up to 500 000USD. Researchers, scientists and developers (up to three people) being the authors of scientific-technological discovery or discoveries on one topic or one field that have been applied to production will be awarded by monetary part of the Prize, Prize symbol, Prize Honorary Diploma and Winner's pin.

The company being the first to apply the discovery (discoveries) to mass production or having reached maximum commercial success through the application of the discovery (discoveries) will be awarded by Prize Honorary Diploma and Prize Symbol.

The decision regarding the winners will be made by Department of Nanotechnologies and Information Technologies of Russian Academy of Sciences, International Advisory Board, the Expert Group and the Prize Directorate.

The following businessmen and scientists became the members of the Prize Committee:

  1. Mikhail Alfimov, Academician of Russian Academy of Sciences, Director, Photochemistry Center Russian Academy of Sciences;
  2. Sergey Kirienko, Director General, State Atomic Energy Corporation "Rosatom";
  3. Mikhail Kovalchuk, Corresponding Member of Russian Academy of Sciences, Director, Russian Research Center Kurchatov Institute;
  4. Vitaly Lopota, President, General Designer, open joint-stock company S.P.Korolev Rocket and Space Corporation Energia;
  5. Alexei Mordashov, CEO, OAO Severstal;
  6. Mikhail Prokhorov, President, ONEXIM Group;
  7. Marina Rodnina, Professor, Director, Department of Physical Biochemistry, Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry;
  8. Vladimir Fortov, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Director, Institute of Thermal Physics of Extreme States of the Joint Institute of High Temperature Russian Academy of Sciences.


The International Advisory Board includes:

  1. Dieter Bimberg, Executive Director, Institute of Solid State Physics and Center of NanoPhotonics; Chairman Management Committee, Nanotechnology Centers of Competence (Germany);
  2. Charles Cantor, Chief Scientific Officer, SEQUENOM Inc. (USA);
  3. Helmut Dosch, Director, Max Planck Institute for Metals Research; Chairman of the Board of Directors, Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (Germany);
