Venture club members hear pitches from startup companies
Abstract:
Since it was founded in 1999, more than 70 startup companies have made presentations to the Greater Lafayette Venture Club.
Nano-Rad LLC also introduced itself to club members. The medical device firm is developing nanotechnology-based devices that can be implanted, treat prostate and breast cancer from inside the body and dissolve after therapy has been delivered.
"This will be the first in the market. It opens the door to a $2.1 billion market," said Richard Mussmann, chief executive officer. "We think we're going to make a pretty big dent with this. It's just a question of getting it out there."
Nano-Rad is seeking initial funding of $2.3 million, and expects to follow that with an effort to raise an additional $2.7 million to complete the process that would make the product available.
