Rushford nanotechnology company 'clears hurdle'
Abstract:
The young nanotechnology company Rushford Hypersonic has "cleared its most significant hurdle" last week, the company announced.
The company fired up its production machines and produced its first Hypersonic Plasma Particle Deposition coating, it said. The company had spent months building and modifying equipment and converting an industrial space into a high-tech laboratory and production facility.
The coating involves depositing nanoparticles, ranging in size from 2 to 20 nanometers, at ultra-high speeds onto the material. They infiltrate and "stick" into the material, sealing and protecting the item with a super hard thin film coating.
The dense coating these nanoparticles form are able to fill pores and voids left behind by other processes, making the product intensely resilient and durable, Rushford Hypersonic said.
