Abstract:
Platypus Technologies, LLC is pleased to announce that Richard S. Schifreen, Ph.D. has joined the Company as President and CEO as of December 10, 2008. Dr. Schifreen was formerly Vice President of Research Products at Mirus Bio Corporation in Madison, WI. Prior to joining Mirus Bio Corporation in 2005, Dr. Schifreen was Director of Technology and Business Development at Promega Corporation in Fitchburg. He is also a founding faculty for the Masters of Science in Biotechnology Program offered by the University of Wisconsin School Of Medicine and Public Health and a member of the Cardiovascular Medicine Advisory Board supporting the Wisconsin Institute of Medical Research. Dr. Schifreen served two terms as a member of the Board of Directors of Platypus Technologies prior to this appointment.
Jeffrey Williams, Ph.D, formerly President and CEO of Platypus Technologies, left the company to pursue opportunities in molecular biology. Dr. Williams led the transition of the company towards a product focused strategy including winning a first place in the life science category at the 2008 Wisconsin Governor's Business Plan Contest.
