Over 7000 visitors attended the Forum.

More than 1100 representatives of the government authorities, world nanoindustry, entrepreneurs and scientists from 33 countries made reports and presentations within the Forum framework.

The basic subjects of discussions held during the Forum were nanotechnology development perspectives both in Russia and world, foreign experience in forming the national innovative systems, role of the government and business in creating the scientific development commercialization mechanisms in the sphere of nanotechnologies. The Forum participants also discussed the venture investment development in Russia. A special attention was paid to the perspectives of applying the nanotechnologies in various branches of economics: from electronics, medicine and biotechnologies to mechanical engineering, oil & gas and chemical industry as well as to the regional programs of their development in Russia.

29 sessions of the scientific and technological workshops were held within the framework of the Forum scientific program, where 263 workshop reports and presentations on 18 basic directions in nanotechnology development and nanomaterial creation were made. More than 160 leading world scientists were among the reporters.

An exhibition of the advanced nanotechnological developments was held during the Forum at the territory of ExpoCenter, where the projects of 80 Russian and foreign companies and organizations were displayed. More than 3300 guests attended the exhibition within these three days. Boris Gryzlov, Speaker of the Russian Federation State Duma visited the exhibition on the day of its closing.

A large investment contract between RUSNANO, ONEXIM Group and the Ural Optical & Mechanical Plant on establishing the enterprise on manufacturing the light engineering of a new generation was signed in the course of the Forum. RUSNANO also concluded the agreements on cooperation with the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow State University and Employment and Economy Ministry of Finland.

Summing up the results of the First International Contest of scientific papers in the sphere of nanotechnologies between young scientists became the central event of the last Forum day. 328 scientific papers of both the Russian and foreign participants were submitted for the contest. Sergey Ivanov, Deputy Chairman of the Government of Russian Federation took part in the prizewinner awarding ceremony.

As explained by Anatoly Chubais «bridging the gap between science and business» as well as support in forming the Russian nanotechnological community became the basic objective of the Forum. About Russian Corporation of Nanotechnologies
The Russian Corporation of Nanotechnologies (RUSNANO) was founded under Federal Law No.139-FZ dated July 19, 2007 for «implementation of the government policy in the sphere of nanotechnologies, innovation infrastructure development in the sphere of nanotechnologies, implementation of projects on creating perspective nanotechnologies and nanoindustry». The Corporation resolves this objective acting as a co-investor in nanotechnological projects with a significant economic or social impact. The Corporation’s financial involvement at early stages of projects reduces risks of its partners – private investors. The Corporation participates in establishment of the nanotechnological infrastructure, such as centers for collective use, business-incubators and early-stage investment funds. RUSNANO chooses the first-priority directions in investment based on long-term development forecasts (foresights) developed by the leading Russian and world experts. In 2007 the Government of the Russian Federation allocated 130 billion rubles for the Corporation’s activity. The management bodies are the Supervisory Council, Board of Directors and Director General. RUSNANO Director General is Anatoly Chubais.

Russian Business Consulting (RBC) is the general information partner of the first Nanotechnology International Forum.
