RUSNANO Director General Anatoly Chubais and Chairman of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation Sergey Stepashin have signed an agreement on c

MOSCOW, Russia | Posted on November 24th, 2008

The document allows the exchange of information on RUSNANO financing nanotechnological research and development, nanotechnological projects, which foresee the implantation of nanotechnologies or nanoindustry production, and other questions on realizing state policy in developing nanotechnologies in Russia.

The agreement involves extending mutual expert and consulting assistance on issues in parties' activity spheres, conducting joint conferences, seminars, round tables, consultations, creation of joint working and advisory groups, commissions, and also participation in the work of profile commissions, which have already been set up.

"Today's signing is an important event. This is not merely a formality for us. The development of nanotechnologies is a new business, and there are many questions and unknown factors, but I recognise that the significance of nanotechnologies for the country's future is unique and indisputable. This is the new technological structure of the majority of the spheres of the economy," said Anatoly Chubais. "Nanotechnologies have already become a reality. They are already used in medicine, automotive, oil industry, etc. As it is an absolutely new sphere of activity for us, no one is insured against errors. On understanding this fact, we came out as initiators of signing this agreement with the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation. We undoubtedly need a sound external view of our work, and we intend to be as open as possible. In this case, I am not only referring to the inspections and the audit, but also to the informational interaction and competent consultational support.
