$14M Pro2Serve headquarters breaks ground at new Science and Technology Park

Abstract:
Government officials, local business leaders and others gathered at the new Oak Ridge Science and Technology Park at the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory on Tuesday to support the groundbreaking of Professional Project Services Inc.'s (Pro2Serve) 115,000-square foot National Security Engineering Center.

The $14 million headquarters will include space for privately employed scientists and engineers, and Pro2Serve says it plans to employ 300 people at its new facility -- scheduled for completion Nov. 1, 2009.

The Oak Ridge Science and Technology Park is the first private business park to be built within the boundaries of a national laboratory, and the project is being developed and managed by Halcyon LLC, a subsidiary of the Community Reuse Organization of East Tennessee, commonly referred to as CROET.

The park is expected to expand to about 40 acres, with $3 million initially being invested in its infrastructure. In addition, an existing building is being redeveloped that will house a nanotechnology commercialization center.
