ESD specialist opens R&D, manufacturing site
Abstract:
Shocking Technologies Inc. is moving to a new R&D and manufacturing site.
The new 51,000-square-foot plant, to be located in San Jose, will house Shocking's research and development labs as well as the company's manufacturing site for its voltage switchable dielectric material.
The new facility will house an analytical lab, nanotechnology development lab and polymer manufacturing. The plant will also house the company's sales and administrative offices.
San Jose-based Shocking is developing so-called Voltage Switchable Dielectric (VSD) materials. A VSD material is a polymer nano-composite that behaves like an insulator during normal circuit operation and becomes conductive when the voltage across the VSD material increases beyond a predefined threshold voltage.
