Registration Open for Nanomanufacturing Conference

Swainsboro, GA | Posted on July 25th, 2008

The National Nanotechnology Manufacturing Center (NNMC) announced today the opening of event registration and hotel reservations for their "Nanomanufacturing & Dual Use Commercialization Conference." The conference is to be held at the Savannah Riverfront Marriott (Savannah, Georgia) on November 3, 4 & 5. On-line links to the registrations can be found at NationalNano.org or by calling 478-289-2346.

The event targets industry and government technology officers who are either experiencing or can contribute to solving the road blocks associated with commercialization of nanotechnology-based materials and devices. Attendees will include innovators, materials and equipment suppliers, manufacturers, marketing organizations and potential end users.

Cynthia Gonsalves, Acting Director of the Office of Technology Transition for the Under Secretary of Defense is the key note speaker. Ms. Gonsalves is scheduled to speak November 4th on the importance and future of the Department of Defense Technology Transition program. A main point of the presentation is how that program relates to the manufacturing infrastructure of our country. Promoting a sustainable nanomanufacturing infrastructure is the primary goal of NNMC.

Enhancing the conference is the recently announced formation of a strategic alliance between the Center and the Association of Manufacturing Excellence (AME) which is dedicated to advancing domestic nanomanufacturing. Through the alliance, NNMC and AME will work to make existing manufacturers aware of opportunities to participate in the commercialization of nanotechnology-enabled materials and devices. AME also joins the firms of Woodcock & Washburn, Axiom Capital Management, Georgia's Department of Economic Development, Georgia Southern University and the on-line nanotech magazine "Small Times" as sponsors of the conference.
