Key strategic hires and internal transitions designed to ensure highest level of customer focus and fulfill global growth strategies
Microfluidics' President and CEO Michael C. Ferrara has announced the formation of a newly-created Senior Leadership Team to ensure customer focus and capitalize on strategic global growth opportunities. Microfluidics is the leading provider of advanced high shear fluid processing systems sold to a wide variety of industries, including pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical and digital inks, personal care and food.
The new appointments include: Brian E. LeClair as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer; William J. Conroy as Vice President of Operations and Engineering; Mary Anne North as Vice President of Customer Success; William Kober as Vice President of Sales for North and South America; Xavier Leroy as Vice President of Sales for Europe, the Middle East and Africa; and Kent Chu as Vice President of Sales for Asia-Pacific. In addition, Mimi Panagiotou will assume the role of Chief Technology Officer, and Dave Gucwa will serve as Product Manager for the Microfluidics product line.

Brian E. LeClair will serve as an officer of the Company and will lead Microfluidics' financial accounting, reporting, planning, budgeting, capital formation, contract oversight activities and IT function. Mr. LeClair will also work closely with Mr. Ferrara on investor relations activities. Mr. LeClair brings more than 25 years of global senior financial executive experience for large-cap, mid-cap and small-cap companies to Microfluidics. Most recently, he served as CFO and CEO for SOFTPRO Group, a leading vendor providing solutions for the banking financial services industries.
William J. Conroy, as Vice President of Operations and Engineering, will have responsibility for the global operations of the Company's Microfluidics equipment business, including product design and engineering, production, quality assurance and quality control, and purchasing. Mr. Conroy brings more than 25 years of high tech product management, quality control and operations experience to Microfluidics. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President of Production and Operations at RemoteReality Corporation, which designs and manufactures for the military/defense and security business sectors.
In a newly created role as Vice President of Customer Success, Mary Anne North will lead Microfluidics' product management, marketing and customer service efforts to ensure the success of Microfluidics' customers across their entire experience with the Company. Ms. North's responsibilities include integrating market and product strategy around customer needs and leading all aspects of customer service, including managing Microfluidics' product and parts service business units. Ms. North brings more than 25 years of global senior executive experience with customer relationship management, product management, corporate and product marketing, sales and business development, corporate strategy and general management. Most recently she served as President of Polaris Management, Inc., a management consulting firm that has collaborated with CEOs and their teams at more than 30 companies nationwide to accelerate growth and improve valuation.
Microfluidics' new Vice Presidents of Sales - William Kober, Xavier Leroy and Kent Chu - will be executing the Company's global growth strategy and leading key regional geographic sales organizations consisting of sales managers, distributors and independent manufacturer's representatives. In their newly created geographic roles, this Sales Leadership Team will be responsible for identifying and defining existing and new growth and partnering opportunities.
Mr. Kober brings more than 25 years of scientific instrumentation sales and marketing experience to Microfluidics. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Sales for the Americas at X-Rite, Incorporated.
Mr. Leroy brings more than 15 years of technological business-to-business sales and marketing experience to Microfluidics. Most recently, he served as Managing Director of Sales for Southern Europe and Northern Africa and General Manager of Sales for France, Italy and Spain at X-Rite, Incorporated.
Mr. Chu brings more than 20 years of sales, product and people management experience in both the domestic and international high technology instrument markets to Microfluidics. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Sales for Asia-Pacific at X-Rite, Incorporated.
In her new and vital role of Chief Technology Officer, Mimi Panagiotou will be instrumental in developing Microfluidics' technology roadmap consistent with the Company's strategic plan. She will focus on new technology opportunities and new markets, and will be the lead technologist in support of existing customers, new partnerships, and relationships with academic institutions.
Moving into the position of Product Manager within Microfluidics' Customer Success group, Dave Gucwa will play a critical role in Microfluidics' continuing corporate focus on innovation and new products. In this position, he will lead product planning for Microfluidics' full line of existing and future machines. Mr. Gucwa has been with Microfluidics for 20 years and has deep knowledge of customer needs and the company's products.
