Abstract:
Distributors Sell Flagship Product Nano eNabler in Europe and Japan
BioForce Nanosciences Holdings, Inc. (OTC BB: BFNH), a producer of integrated biological and mechanical systems for life science researchers at the micro and nano scales, today announced that its overseas distributors' sales success helped the Company set a new sales record of its flagship product, the Nano eNabler™, in the fourth quarter of 2007.
The Nano eNabler is being used by customers for a variety of research activities, with two key areas being cell biology and biosensor development. The Nano eNabler's ability to deposit miniscule quantities of biological materials reproducibly and with extremely high precision allows researchers to create novel experimental systems and tests in areas such as cancer diagnostics and treatment and rapid detection of biological agents.
Overseas distributors accounted for 4 of the of 5 Nano eNablers BioForce sold in the fourth quarter of 2007, for a total of 11 sold to research entities around the world since inception in 2006. In addition, it has placed 20 units in research institutes, 18 of which are in North America, for a 12-month free trial period, and these have already begun to convert to sales, accounting for 2 of the 11 sold. Management believes that most will convert to sales by the end of 2008.
The BioForce distributors operate outside the US, which is already serviced by the BioForce in-house sales team. By building a network of global distributors, the management of BioForce believes it can meet the needs of the global life sciences market without the overheads required by establishing its own sales team on every continent. In 2008, the Company intends to increase the number of distributors with whom it works to expand its geographical coverage.
Kerry Frey, BioForce's President and Chief Operating Officer, said, "We are extremely pleased with the performance of our distribution network overseas. It takes a dedicated effort to sell a specialized product like the Nano eNabler system, but our highly trained distributors have proven up to that task. Additionally, we have done demonstrations in various countries, most recently in Thailand, so that our distributors can show potential clients the Nano eNabler in action. This caters to the scientific community's desire to have hands-on experience of a device before committing research funds toward a purchase."
Frey continued, "In the UK, we work with Windsor Scientific, and they sold a Nano eNabler to the Department of Chemistry at the University of Wales in Bangor, Wales. Earlier in the year, Windsor sold another unit to the University of Limerick in Ireland.
"On the Continent, we are fortunate to be working with NanoAndMore GmbH, which sold a unit in Spain to CEEI in Barcelona, and another in Germany to the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg. In Japan, Meiwafosis is our distributor, and they sold a unit to an influential national research institute in that country.
Frey concluded, "This overseas distribution network is a vital component of our platform for sales growth that will complement our American in-house operation effectively. They have proved (proven?) that the product is in demand around the world and that they can successfully sell it. We now have distributors in not only the UK, Germany and Japan but also in China, Australia, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, India, Indonesia, Taiwan and Vietnam. As 2008 progresses, we expect to add further distributors in Canada and Latin America, and we expect our sales to increase significantly over 2007's results."
