Goic to hold meet on knowledge-based industries

Abstract:
The city-based Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (Goic) will be conducting a conference here on knowledge-based industries (KBI) and Nanotechnology on February 11 and 12.

The event is being held in cooperation with the Arab Industrial Development & Mining Organization (AIDMO) and The Arab Science and Technology Foundation (ASTF). The conference aims to introduce KBIs and find means and practical mechanisms for enabling GCC member states to launch these industries.,

Goic says KBIs potentially have a great role to play in the future of GCC member states, supported by the growth in the expenditure indicators of some countries in the region on research and development.

Qatar has been widely-recognised as a leader among GCC states in recognising the need for KBI development and in making important investments in KBI foundations. Having made a substantial commitment and a vision to develop the environment necessary to foster a knowledge-based economy, the country has the opportunity to become a pioneer in the region and a global KBI leader.
