Abstract:
NeoPhotonics today announced the appointment of Mr. Lee Sen Ting to the company's Board of Directors. Originally from China, Mr. Ting accumulated extensive high-level business experience and contacts throughout Asia as he enjoyed a 35-year career in the region with high-tech leaders such as Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Lenovo.
Mr. Ting currently serves as a director and advisor for several notable technology and financial firms. In addition to serving as an Independent Board Member of the Lenovo Group, among the world's largest personal computer companies, Mr. Ting also serves as a director for Microelectronics Technology, Inc. of Hsinchu, Taiwan, a leading RF provider for wireless communications. He is also a director at Yeepay, a leading e-payment provider connecting major banks, carriers and merchants in China, and EPIN Media, a leading media company focused on transportation venues in China.
In the financial arena, Mr. Ting currently serves as a Managing Director at WR Hambrecht & Co., where he focuses on the firm's China strategy. He is also an Advisor to WK Technology Fund.
Mr. Ting spent the bulk of his career in technology at Hewlett Packard, where among other achievements he helped build the HP enterprise and brand in China. As a former Corporate Vice President of HP and a Managing Director of that company's geographic operations, Mr. Ting was instrumental in the development of HP's long-term partnership strategy and international expansion.
In a tenure spanning more than 30 years, Mr. Ting joined HP in 1965 and rose ultimately to Corporate Vice President and Managing Director of Worldwide Geographic Operations. He served in functional roles ranging from Development Engineer to Far East Area General Manager, Managing Director of Southeast Asia Operations, and Director of Corporate Development and Manufacturing for HP's intercontinental operations. Immediately prior to his last role at HP, Mr. Ting served as Vice President and Managing Director of HP's Asia-Pacific region, where he was responsible for HP's customer facing organizations in all Asian countries in which HP did business.
Mr. Ting serves as a Director of the 1990 Institute and Mills-Peninsula Health Services. He received a B.S.E.E. from Oregon State University and is a graduate of the Stanford Executive Program.
"We are fortunate to add an executive with Lee's business acumen, particularly in the Asian region, to our Board of Directors," said Tim Jenks, CEO and Chairman of the Board. "We look forward to his counsel and contributions over the coming months and years."
"NeoPhotonics has achieved a leading position in the industry and in Asia," said Ting. "I look forward to helping the company accelerate its growth and achieve new successes going forward."
