When "cheap" will bring envy
Abstract:
Korean scientists are among the leaders in research that could lead to nano machines and devices, revolutionizing the world's economy. The Office of Naval Research of the United States lists Hanyang University, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology and Seoul National University among the thirty most prolific institutions for published papers on nanotechnology. Its report shows that globally the number of articles published on nanotechnology research has skyrocketed over the last decade and that the most rapid growth over that period has come from East Asia, notably China and Korea. In 2005, Korea published 4,098 papers on nanotechnology and nanoscience, the fifth largest output overall and a 40-fold increase for the nation from 1991. The United States led with 14,750.
