Participants will engage with scientists, manufacturers and innovators with a view to developing collaborations and partnerships and furthering bilateral trade.

Highlights of the visit will be the ASSOCHAM Summit and dinner in New Delhi, a visit to the Oncology Centre at Nanavati hospital in Mumbai and a meeting with the Head of R&D at Tata Steel in Kolkata.

Digby, Lord Jones of Birmingham, Minister for Trade and Investment, said of the forthcoming nanotechnology trade mission:

"Both India and the UK recognise the importance of nanotechnology and both countries have made exciting progress in scientific research and nurturing R&D outcomes through innovation to market. Good examples already in place are establishment of a UK base for the Indian Centre for Applied nanotechnology (I-CAN) in London and collaborations between Cambridge and Kolkata universities.

"The recently signed nanotechnology JETCO agreement endorsed by our two countries symbolises our joint determination to accelerate progress by sharing experiences and driving trade between our countries."

A reciprocal trade mission from India to the UK will attend UK NanoForum 2007 in London on November 27th and, during the week, visit three centres of excellence in nanotechnology across the UK.
