University opens £5m medical electronics centre
Abstract:
Glasgow University has opened a £5m centre for research into the tiny systems used in products like pill-sized medical sensors which, it believes, could provide a big boost to the electronics design sector in Scotland.
The university hopes that by bringing together experts in both designing and manufacturing systems the new Electronics Design Centre for Heterogeneous Systems will be at the forefront of developments in areas such as healthcare and communications.
The centre will be home initially to around 20 academics and research students, with expertise in designing miniature systems led by Professor David Cumming.
