Summit hopes to ready area for high-tech
Abstract:
"This is the back of a box of cereal from Germany, and it talks about nanotechnology," she said. "It's targeted at kids."
Peerman presented this unique example of outreach by the high-tech industry to children -- the engineers of the high-tech industry's future -- at U.S. Rep. Kirsten Gillibrand's 2007 economic summit: "Entrepreneurship and Growth in Upstate New York."
Peerman gave this example during "Preparing the Future Workforce," one of four summit sessions, and she gave it in order to address New York's need to ensure that students are exposed to science and math at a young age.
