Honey, I shrunk the technology
Abstract:
On the fourth floor of Building P at the Illinois Science and Technology Park in Skokie, Nanotope is developing breakthrough technology in regenerative medicine.
Already, it has shown that paralyzed mice can regain the ability to walk after being injected with Nanotope's regenerative nanomaterial. Human tests should begin in a few years for the technology developed at the lab of Northwestern professor Sam Stupp, director of the Institute of BioNanotechnology in Medicine at Northwestern University.
Down the hall, another startup, NanoInk, is developing nanoencryption technology to protect consumers from unsafe, counterfeit drugs. NanoInk, is based on dip-pen nanolithography developed by another Northwestern science star, professor Chad Mirkin, head of Northwestern's International Institute for Nanotechnology.
