Home > Press > To Live To 100, Take Control of Your Future, Become Your Own “Health Detective.”
Abstract:
In the future, if you want to live to the ripe old age of 150 and beyond, you will have to take matters in your own hands. While gene therapy, stem cell science, and even nanotechnology will provide the tools to live to such ages, it will be up to each of us to figure out how to take advantage of these magnificent new breakthroughs.
In one of his recent appearances on Southern California radio station KNX-AM internationally-known sociologist/futurist Dr. Michael G. Zey author of the forthcoming book Ageless Nation, claimed that each of us must become "health detectives" to keep abreast of scientific developments that can cure our diseases and extend our lives.
We can use tools such as the Internet and websites such as WebMD.com, Healthline.com and Medline.com to get the latest life-saving medical information. Gone are the days, Zey said, when people relied solely on family doctors and schools for information on diseases, their symptoms and their cure.
According to Dr. Zey, the recent explosion in "medical tourism"--people seeking medical treatment in locales outside their home country--is a direct result of people becoming "health detectives."
From his offices in Morristown NJ, Zey stated that "The medical tourism trend is almost completely driven by folks simply getting on the Internet and discovering they can get quality medical care at one-third the price in places like India, the Philippines, and Eastern Europe."
In his lectures, media appearances, and Ageless Nation Dr. Michael Zey actively encourages audiences to become "health sleuths," to avail themselves of the miracles wrought by what he terms the "Superlongevity Revolution."
