Tyndall Institute gets cash injection

Abstract:
Cork's Tyndall Institute is to receive EUR15.8 million in funding, the Minister for Enterprise Trade and Employment Micheal Martin announced Tuesday.

The Institute currently specialises in the areas of photonics, electronics, materials and nanotechnologies and their applications for life sciences, communications, power electronics and other industries.

Research programmes range from theoretical modelling and design to novel material, nanotechnology, device processing and fabrication, packaging and integration; and systems incorporating these new devices. The Institute's stated aim is to become a 'focal point' for ICT research in Ireland.
