Sony TV's slimming down on a nano diet
Abstract:
Sony and other electronics manufacturers looking to incorporate the organic light-emitting diode technology that makes OEL screens possible may also benefit from recent progress in nanotech research. An interdisciplinary research team based in the United States built the smallest organic light-emitting device seen to date — just 200 milimeters wide — in early April.
According to José Moran-Mirabal, a member of the research team from Cornell University, OEL technology holds enormous potential for the electronics market because it enables the manufacture of screens that are small, energy-efficient, and flexible.
