IIChE celebrates Diamond Jubilee with e-Waste Mgmt

Abstract:
Mr. K. Venkataramanan, threw light on how IIChE, over its long and glorious history has emerged as one of the most prominent industry bodies in India. He said: "Chemical engineering technology needs to position itself more emphatically as being critical to the economy. Whether it is the cutting-edge nanotechnology or biotechnology industry or more traditional streams - all of them depend on chemical engineers to make their products and process a reality." He elucidated on IIChE's tradition of attracting the finest engineering talent and the need to infuse more vigour in its pursuit for intellectual capital.

Mr. Venkataramanan said e-waste is emerging as a major problem in India. "We would like to find solutions," he said, "for handling e-waste in a sustainable and cost-effective manner. At this international conference, we have brought together experts in the field for knowledge sharing for formulating a roadmap for reducing, reusing and recycling of e-waste."
