New energy policy would aid state businesses, homeowners
Abstract:
In a world where fossil fuels are being depleted and con tinued consumption of them on a mass scale threatens dramatic climate change, it should go without saying that taking greater advantage of the energy of the sun is critical.
For a variety of reasons, solar power hasn't become common, especially for making electricity. But that day is coming. It will be aided by research efforts around the world, including those at Penn State University, where nanotechnology shows promise of increasing the efficiency of solar photovoltaic panels.
And it will be assisted by encouraging the application of so lar power in real-world sit uations through gov ernment grants and loans to help this budding industry de velop a mar ket and lower production costs. A few have figured out that solar is the future and have gotten in on the ground floor.
