Nanotechnology Promises Improvements In Hydrogen Storage

Abstract:
One of the key challenges in making the transition to a hydrogen economy will be finding new ways to efficiently store and transport hydrogen, and a team of researchers from the Institute of Applied Mechanics, Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, believe that nanostructures (elements engineered at scales smaller than a millionth of a metre) such as carbon nanotubes, nanofibers and nanocones, have unique properties which might be exploited to store gases in a way that would offer advantages over existing systems.
