UT ranks second in revenue from inventions
Abstract:
UT Austin reached record highs in licensing returns during the 2006 fiscal year, highlighted by growth in the fields of nanotechnology, biotechnology and clean energy, according to a state study released Monday.
The study, carried out by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, showed a 26-percent increase from fiscal year 2005, with $8.43 million in total revenue. The success experienced in the 2006 fiscal year, which ran from Sept. 1, 2005 through Aug. 31, 2006, was heightened by 16 new exclusive and 27 new nonexclusive licensing agreements between the University and industries, said Linda Domelsmith, director of research for the board.
