Twin degrees for BE students likely

Abstract:
The idea behind this is to increase the university's income. While Indian students pay Rs 9,000 per annum for an engineering course, the university can demand five times more from foreign students. People of foreign birth can seek admission directly through application, but People of Indian Origin (PIOs) may have to go through an admission test.

To accommodate these foreign students, 15 per cent super numerary seats will be created and depending on the demand even affiliated colleges may be asked to take in foreign students.

The university is also coming up with a centre for nanotechnology and another for pharmaceutical sciences. This year JNTU is opening up campuses at two more places—Karimnagar and Vijayanagaram, Rajagopal said.
