NeoPhotonics Receives ''Supplier Achievement'' Award from Ciena

San Jose, CA | Posted on March 19th, 2007

NeoPhotonics Corporation, a leading developer of optical components for fiber-to-the-home, metro, long-haul and reconfigurable networks, today announced that the company recently received a 2006 "Supplier Achievement" award from Ciena® Corporation, one of the networking industry's leading providers of next-generation solutions. Gregory B. Senft, Director of Reliability Engineering for Ciena, presented the award to NeoPhotonics after a tour of NeoPhotonics' high volume manufacturing facility in Shenzhen, China.

The award, signed by Scott Higgins, Ciena's VP of Supply Chain Management, recognized NeoPhotonics' superior product quality, performance, on time deliveries, service and customer support in 2006.

"This recognition symbolizes two of our highest objectives at NeoPhotonics - superior product design and manufacturing capability," said Ferris Lipscomb, VP of Marketing for NeoPhotonics. "The improvement processes we have implemented at Shenzhen and our other manufacturing sites will continue to benefit all of our customers, including Ciena."

NeoPhotonics supplies Ciena with a variety of Planar Lightwave Circuit (PLC) and Micro-Electro-Mechanical (MEMS)-based fiber optic components for the Company's DWDM systems. NeoPhotonics' products are used in Ciena's CoreStream® Agility Optical Transport System and CN 4200TM FlexSelectTM Advanced Services Platform. NeoPhotonics' products utilize wafer-based optical integration technology manufactured using mass production techniques developed in the Silicon Valley, in order to achieve the highest performance, reliability and flexibility.

NeoPhotonics is exhibiting these products and many others next week at the Optical Fiber Communications Conference and Exposition, booth 3301, in Anaheim.
