FormFactor at top of its game: Firm earns Smithsonian status for its wafer testing technology
Abstract:
Khandros' technology is based on MEMS, or micro-electrical mechanical systems, extremely small electrical mechanical devices that can move equipment by distances so small that the human eye cannot see the movement. MEMS is the next best thing after nanotechnology.
"We can test for very fine features, (making) very fine contact points. This allowed semiconductor makers to shrink their chips, making them ever smaller and put more chips on a wafer," Khandros said.
