Caution urged on school makeover
Abstract:
Others were also concerned that the nanotech academy will divide the student body along racial and socioeconomic lines, and that only kids who are groomed for advanced math and science will get a chance to go to school there.
"Most of our kids can't even do basic math and science. Shouldn't we prepare them?" asked parent June Davis.
Dragone said the academy will be open to all students, even those who struggle with math and science. The academy will be structured to help students in those subjects.
