Abstract:
This symposium will provide an overview of the research at the Center for Nanomedicine and Cellular Delivery and the regional nanomedicine community in order to foster interactions in this field.
The inaugural Nanomedicine Research Day, hosted by the Center for Nanomedicine and Cellular Delivery in the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, is an important gathering of scientists from around the state. Scheduled to run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, March 23, at University of Maryland, Baltimore, Nanomedicine Research Day will explore the work that has been taking place, and that which lies ahead, in Maryland's nanomedicine community.
Nanomedicine researchers have been developing diagnostics for rapid monitoring, targeted cancer therapies, localized drug delivery, improved cell material interactions, scaffolds for tissue engineering, and gene delivery systems.
Speakers at the event will include William E. Kirwan, PhD, chancellor of the University System of Maryland, David J. Ramsay, DM, DPhil, president of the University of Maryland, Baltimore, as well as Hamid Ghandehari, PhD, director of the Center for Nanomedicine and Cellular Delivery. The conference will feature 15-minute overviews on topics including radiotherapy, targeted drug delivery, diagnostic medicine, drug discovery and bringing nanomedicine into clinical care.
