Fuel Cells Shift from Automobile to Niche Markets
Abstract:
The company also gave a paper on performance of a membrane electrode assembly (MEA) using carbon nanotube (CNT) electrodes in November 2006. The CNTs were aligned perpendicularly to facilitate water drainage and control voltage drop (flattening) in the high-current region due to water generated on the air electrode side.
The prototyped MEA has gas diffusion 1.2 to 1.4 times higher than conventional designs, catalyst proton conductivity 3.3 times higher, and electron conductivity inside the catalyst layers 7.5 times higher.
