Chemicals secure, MSU officials say
Abstract:
A person would have an easier time finding materials to build a dirty bomb on the Internet than from a Missouri State University laboratory, school officials said Tuesday.
Tuesday's incident at the University of Missouri-Rolla, in which an international student claimed to have a bomb and anthrax, turned out to be all but certainly a hoax. But the case has thrust the security of chemicals and other hazardous materials stored on college campuses into the spotlight.
Ryan Giedd, executive director of the Jordan Valley Innovation Center, said while students and nanotechnology companies will be researching products to combat certain deadly chemicals, none of the deadly agents will be used in the testing.
