NYU's year-round lobbying: How it works

Abstract:
The top priorities for NYU's lobbying effort are scientific research and financial aid. Every year, the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation provide grants for top researchers in the country, and NYU is awarded many of those grants. While the NIH grants primarily support the university's medical center, Steve Heuer, the OGCA's associate director of federal relations, said many researchers in the physical sciences take the NSF grants. In the past, professors and deans have conducted grant-funded research in nanotechnology, genomics and geology.
