State universities deserve proper investment

Abstract:
Oregon's colleges and universities attract millions of dollars in research money because top-notch faculty are constantly looking to the future. Some of the current priorities targeted for state investment are nanotechnology, sustainability, clean energy and health care. Breakthroughs in any of these areas could change our world.

Two years' worth of investment in higher education can't reverse years of neglect, let alone ensure our kids will survive in the global marketplace. But the governor's budget is a step in the right direction.
