UO's biggest donor adds $15 million for science building
Abstract:
The biggest academic donor in University of Oregon history is adding another building to his legacy with a $15 million gift toward a second new science building on the campus.
The donation from San Francisco philanthropist Lorry Lokey makes him the signature donor on four building projects and cements his status as the most generous patron of UO academics ever. His gifts, which have boosted the arts, professions and sciences, now total almost $50 million.
Together, the Lokey Laboratories and integrative sciences buildings will allow the UO to pursue new lines of research and expand existing ones in cognitive neuroscience, materials science, biology and computer information. They also will boost the UO's nanotechnology research and partnerships with the state's high-tech industries.
