MHPCC supercomputer among world’s fastest

Abstract:
The numbers are like cosmological distances - too big to really comprehend: The new Dell PowerEdge 1955 dedicated Friday at the Maui High Performance Computing Center has a maximum speed of 61 teraflops, memory of more than 353 terabytes. That's 61 trillion operations a second and 353 trillion bits of memory.

To maintain the advantage, the Defense Research Engineering Network, of which Jaws is now the most powerful site, will help to conduct about 75 research programs in information technology, miniaturization including nanotechnology, biology and power generation.
