Growing nanotechnology field requires research, safety

Abstract:
Purdue's Birck Nanotechnology Center is working on looking at potential risks with research being done, said facility manager John Weaver. They are not aware of any issues concerning risks, but it is ongoing research. "There has been speculation, but it is only speculation," he said.

Ron Turco, professor of agronomy, is working on a research project looking at how carbon nanomaterials behave in soil and water. "Basically we are seeing a lot less effect than we thought," he said. "I'm pretty happy with what we are seeing in terms of the impact."
