'Space Games' to put space elevator designs to the test

Abstract:
The U.S. space agency is offering a $400,000 carrot-on-a-stick to private companies who show promising steps towards the development of a space elevator. NASA is partnering with Spaceward Foundation and X Prize for an Oct. 20 competition.
