Summer science institute starts small

Abstract:
About 30 middle school students from Ypsilanti Public Schools recently chose to do something not many would: spend two weeks of summer break in a classroom studying science.

The students were part of the first Summer Science Institute at the University of Michigan School of Education. The theme of the institute was nanotechnology, and the projects all related to a central question: "If it's so small, how do I know it's there?"
