Wignall plays with sci-fi science
Abstract:
Steve Wignall, the physics teacher, took his students to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and showed them the lab where he's spent the last two summers conducting research.
About five years ago, UNL approached SHS about a potential pilot program for the school in nanotechnology. Although the grant wasn't funded, Wignall said it opened the door for him to participate in research through the Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC) at UNL which was set up by the National Science Foundation to conduct "research on new magnetic structues and materials at the nanometer scale, or a width of about four atoms," the website said.
