Competitiveness agenda starts with improving school system
Abstract:
Lezlee Westine: Education is the key to our future. As a representative of America's high-tech CEOs, I realize that in order for our industry to remain the world's leader in innovation, we need a world-class talent pool.
Simply put, if our nation is to be home to the cutting-edge ideas in information technology, biotechnology and nanotechnology - fields that are sure to produce the "next big things" in consumer applications, energy, transportation and health care - we must invest in our education system. And that is why so many in the high-tech industry support President Bush's American Competitiveness Initiative, which he announced this week in his State of the Union address.
