Ag research funds appropriated to University

Abstract:
The U.S. House of Representatives granted more than $3.7 million dollars to the University for agriculture and food science research. Bob Easter, dean of the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences, said the funding would help the University's research efforts.

"The idea is to use biotechnology and nanotechnology to reduce plant disease," he said. "There are some scientific problems that can be addressed by this technology, we'll be able to use that otherwise couldn't have been."
