Gold nanocrystals catalyze hydrocarbon oxidation
Abstract:
Researchers from Cardiff University, UK, Johnson Matthey Catalysts, UK, and Lehigh University, US, have used gold nanocrystals to catalyse the oxidation of alkenes by molecular oxygen. The reaction does not require a solvent and takes place at 60-80 °C and under atmospheric pressure.
