Training center to open at Eindhoven University of Technology

September 26, 2005

In 2001 NT-MDT Co. and Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) cooperation started from the delivery of multifunctional Scanning Probe Microscope Solver to Laboratory of Macromolecules and Organic Chemistry. In 2005 the Chemical Engineering and Chemistry department of the University purchased the whole complex of the equipment including not only simple SPM for the educational purposes - NanoEducators - but also professional specialized Probe Laboratories NTEGRA for overall research of materials in air and in low vacuum environment.

By present time the training program is successfully realized on the basis of NanoEducator for first-year students.

The program consists of lectures and experimental work - students study such techniques as AFM intermittent-contact mode, tunnelling microscopy, force spectroscopy and lithography. The purpose of training center is to teach the basis of nanotechnology so that after this course, the student could apply 'nanofabrication' - nanoparticles self-assembling and growing, scanning probe lithography for the production of nanomaterials and devices.
