IEST Fall Conference Offers Tutorial on Nanotechnology
Rolling Meadows, IL | July 28, 2005
The Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology (IEST) will hold its annual Fall Conference November 13-16, 2005 at the Hyatt Regency Woodfield in Schaumburg (near Chicago O’Hare International Airport), Illinois.
A new class on Nanotechnology will be available for the first time. The all-day tutorial will include an overview of nanotechnology and the building environment it requires. Nanotechnology specialists will discuss current criteria and design approaches that might be used to address stability of vibration, noise, EMI/RFI, and electrical power, as well as cleanroom and biocontainment issues unique to nanotechnology. This tutorial will serve as preparation for and a companion piece to the nanotechnology Working Group organizational meeting the following day.
In addition, several other contamination control tutorials will be offered. Attendees can participate in a Certificate program on ISO Cleanroom Standards. The tutorials included in the certificate program cover pertinent information from ISO Standard 14644-1, Classification of Air Cleanliness; ISO Standard 14644-2, Specifications for Testing and Monitoring to Prove Continued Compliance with ISO 14644-1; ISO Standard 14644-3, Test Methods; and IEST-RP-CC006, Testing Cleanrooms. Following the certificate program, the Working Group for testing cleanrooms will meet.
Another tutorial will be offered on Biocontamination, covering ISO Standard 14698-1, Biocontamination Part 1: General principles and methods, and ISO Standard 14698-2, Biocontamination Part 2: Evaluation and interpretation of biocontamination data. This class is recommended for those responsible for biocontamination control in process development and production and other manufacturing stages, including managers, engineers, QA/QC personnel, microbiologists, housekeeping, maintenance, and cleanroom personnel, and product line personnel in the pharmaceutical, medical device, food, cosmetics, and hospital industries. Persons involved in electronics, semiconductor, aerospace, and others, where microbiology is a foreign language, are encouraged to attend, as biocontamination control may be the next frontier for their industries.
More information about these tutorials will be available shortly. For further information regarding IEST Fall Conference 2005, visit the IEST website at www.iest.org . You may also contact IEST at iest@iest.org or call (847) 255-1561.
