Abstract:
Prof. Uri Banin and students Taleb Mokari and Eli Rothenberg have developed nanocrystals that emit light in the near-infrared, a range important for optical telecommunications. Another invention is nanocrystals in the form of tiny, gold-tipped dumbbells. The nanodumbells help in the building of new nanocrystal transistors – the basic component of computer chips.
