New Technology Could Yield Terabyte Optical Disks
Abstract:
A new approach to storing information on optical disks could lead to development of a medium that reportedly would be capable of holding as much as 1 terabyte of data -- 100 times the capacity of current digital-video disks.
The technology, called "multiplexed optical data storage" (MODS), is the brainchild of researchers at Imperial College in London.
